Obituary

Heyward H. "Buddy" Cook, Jr. passed away December 6, 2011 at E.T. York Haven Hospice. He was born to Heyward H. Cook, Sr. and Lorice Seay Cook on November 21, 1932 in Leesburg, GA and lived in Georgia until moving to Gainesville in 1993."Buddy" served in the U.S. Army, was a graduate of Georgia Southwestern College and a farmer in Georgia. He was also a judge magistrate in Lee County and licensed in insurance and real estate.He was a steward and lay leader at Leesburg United Methodist Church where he taught Sunday School for many years and had a Sunday School class named after him. In Gainesville, he was a member and elder of The Family Church. Buddy loved to sing and dance.He was preceded in death by a son, Heyward H. Cook, III and sister, Mary Frances Cook Daniel. Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Patsy; sons, Pastor Sam Mark Cook (Sandra) of Leesburg, GA and Dr. John Haines Cook (Wendy) of Panama City Beach, FL; daughter, Cathy Cook Williams (Al) of Americus, GA; sister, Ada Lee Cook Carson of Americus; fourteen grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren who referred to him as "Big Daddy".Visitation will be from 5-7 PM on Wednesday, December 7 at The Family Church, 2022 SW 122nd Street, Gainesville and Funeral Services will be at 11:00 AM on Thursday, December 8 at the Family Church. Interment with military honors will be held on Friday, December 9, 2011 at 2:00 PM.at the Leesburg Cemetery in Leesburg, GA.
