Obituary

Hope Rachelle (Garrie) Moorman (July 31, 2001 - December 26, 2023)"The world is a beautiful place if you just take the time to learn a little about it."Hope Rachelle (Garrie) Moorman, of Tallahassee, FL, died December 26, 2023 in Jacksonville, FL, after receiving injuries in an automobile accident two days prior. Hope was 22 years old.She was born in Kansas City, MO, July 31, 2001, to Richard and Shana (Holt) Garrie, who have described her to all as their "fiery middle child." She attended Gardner Edgerton High School before graduating from Flagler College with a degree in Coastal Environmental Science, going to work at the Florida Department of Environmental Protection.Hope met her husband, Reeve, in 2019 while they both were attending Flagler College. Their second date was in her hospital room after an appendectomy. It was clear from the very start that the two were made for one another. After four years, filled to the brim with adventure, the two were married on a beautifully sunny day, October 13, 2023, in Saint Augustine, Florida. There are not enough words in any language to adequately describe the spunk and tenacity that Hope contained in her twenty two years. She was a true force, and her passions were so deep and so vast, that it is only fair to paint her picture out of the strange details that made her Hope. She loved the movies Tangled and Mamma Mia. She loved roller derby and was just starting to get really good at it. She was very proud of that. She wanted to bring everyone she knew into the world of tabletop roleplaying games. Her favorite animal was the orangutan, followed closely by rats. When she was 4 years old, she tried to swing "like Tarzan" with the cord of a set of window blinds in her mouth and popped out her two front teeth. She was a passionate conservationist and a lover of tacos. When Hope was 16 and getting her drivers license, she was excited to check the organ donor box. She said, "Who wouldnt want these awesome organs?!" Her family honored her well known wishes and are comforted that other families prayers were answered. Hope was preceded in death by her uncle, Michael Garrie, and grandfather, Jerry Garrie. She is survived by her husband, Reeve Hahn Moorman, parents, Richard Phillip Garrie and Shana Rachelle Garrie, siblings Faith (Guy) Cauthon and Jacob Garrie. There are no plans for a service at this time. If anyone would like to honor Hope, we recommend going to your favorite beach, lake, river or wetlands and just sit and take it in. Observe something new and maybe pick up some trash on Hopes behalf. It seems fitting to end with Hopes own words, written in her book of poetry, New Limitations, published in 2022: "People are composed of stories. This is how we thrive. We have stories of our own; tales of broken bicycles, learning how to keep our footing on cliffs too steep for children of our age. We, too, carry stories of those who otherwise would drift into the sea of lost souls. I carry stories of rain on my skin, of long summer days. of sweet summer nights, stories of scars, humorous and humiliating, of reptile skin soft underneath my fingertips, and of learning how to love.
