Horace F. Martin, age 96, was born in Omega, GA on March 28, 1926 to John Henry and Myra Marie Martin.Horace served in the U. S. Army and was in WW II from 1944 to 1947. He was General Eisenhour's driver. He received many medals during his service. He is a great hero in our eyes.He was owner and operator of Diamond Auto Parts in Gainesville for many years. He then owned and operated the Texaco Station on the corner of N.E. 23rd Ave. and S. Main St.He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 66 yrs., Wilma L. Martin and son Larry F. Martin. Horace is survived by a son Dale Martin and daughter Lynn Tharpe (Butch). His brother-in-law, Ronnie Lewis (Beverly) and daughter Connie. He is preceded in death by a brother Roy Martin and sisters, Pauline and Evelyn. He is survived by a sister Mary Willis, and a brother Ray Martin of Omega, GA and many nieces and nephews.He will be gratefully missed.The service will be held Friday, September 16, 2022 at 11:00 am for visitation and 12:00 noon for the service at Forest Meadows Cemetery Chapel.
