Howard Lindsey Barber Funeral services for Howard Lindsey Barber, 82, will be held at 2:00pm Saturday, May 19, 2012 in the chapel of George H. Hewell and Son Funeral Home, 4140 University Boulevard, South, with Dr. D. Lynn Hyatt officiating. Born November 25, 1929 in Reidsville, North Carolina, Mr. Barber died Wednesday, May 16, 2012 in Jacksonville. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Callahan and was a retired truck driver from General Electric. Mr. Barber was predeceased by his wife of 59 years and the love of his life, Arie Esteen Barber. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Cheryl B. (Richard) Haig and Mrs. Pam B. (Duke) Emmi, both of Callahan, Florida; a son, Roger L. (Korina) Barber of Sanderson, Florida; two sisters, Yvonne Barber and Judy (Ronnie) Melanson, both of Reidsville, North Carolina; eight grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and his canine companion Charlie. The family will receive friends, at the funeral home, from 5:30pm until 7:30pm on Friday.
