Howard Henry Floyd, 83 of Keystone Heights passed away at Shands Hospital on September 27, 2016. He was born on December 20, 1932 in Oxford to the late James Gordon and Ruby (Hurst) Reedy Floyd. Howard was a veteran of the United States Air Force serving for four years and achieved the rank of Staff Sergeant. Following his service with the military he moved to Nashville, TN where he met the love of his life Genevieve and they married soon after. Howard had owned several businesses such as, a Texaco gas station, a used car lot and a furniture store. After three years of marriage they moved to Gainesville where he was manager of JM Fields Tire Mart and for 37 years a member of Highland Presbyterian Church, along with being a Fleet Management Director for the City of Gainesville for 13 years. From 1978 - 1996, he owned and operated Gainesville Truck and Equipment and Allied Machine Corporation. He also owned several Sonnys restaurants and was an avid Gator fan. In 2000, Howard and Genny retired to Keystone Heights and joined Keystone United Methodist Church. During his retirement, he enjoyed traveling with his wife and daughter along with golfing and fishing. In 2010 he partnered with his daughter, nephew Hal Floyd and wife Kerry to form Beacon Software Solutions Inc. where he also served as Secretary Director and mentor until his death. Howard is preceded in death by two brothers Earl and Arnold Floyd. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Genevieve "Genny" (Perry); their daughter Lisa Floyd of Jacksonville; sister, Erma Jeffers of Richmond, VA and a brother, Harold Floyd of Ocala along with numerous nieces and nephews. Viewing will begin at 10:00 AM with the service beginning at 11:00 AM on Saturday October 1, 2016 at Keystone United Methodist Church with Rev. Jeff Tate and Dr. Tom Farmer officiating. Following the interment at Keystone Heights Cemetery, the family has invited everyone back to the church for a time of fellowship. Howards nieces and nephews will be serving as pallbearers and honorary pallbearers will be Charles Bigbie, Jerry Woods, Richard Lester and Bill Stewart.
