Ibrahim K. Ebcioglu

Dr. Ibrahim Ebcioglu, Professor Emeritus in the Department of Mechanical, Aerospace, and Engineering Sciences at the University of Florida passed away at home in Gainesville, Florida on November 21, 2017. He was born in Istanbul, Turkey in 1921. He earned a Master of Engineering degree from the Technical University of Istanbul and a PhD from the University of Minnesota. He worked for eight years in the Turkish aircraft industry and spent thirty six years teaching and researching at the University of Florida, specializing in mechanics of continua, layered plates and shells. He retired from U of F in 1997. After retirement, he continued pursuing his passion for learning and a daily fitness program which included swimming.He leaves behind three loving children, one son, Metin A. Ebcioglu and two daughters, Selma E. Ebcioglu and Nermin U. Ebcioglu.A memorial gathering will be planned at a later date.
