Mrs. Ilean Atkinson Lewis age 78 of Gainesville passed away Monday, September 28, 2009 at E.T. York Hospice Care Center in Gainesville. Mrs. Lewis was born on August 25, 1931 in Brooker to the late Carrol and Minnie Hodges Atkinson and was a longtime resident of Gainesville. She retired from the State of Florida Probation Department as a clerk and was a member of the Church of Christ in Ocala. Survivors are daughter: Reeda Ilean Lott of Wiggins, Mississippi; son: Randy Lewis of Alachua; sister: Joyce Castlen of Gainesville; grandchildren: Linn Lott of Mississippi; Beth Pittman Yarbrough of Tampa; Denise Pittman Moore of Starke; David Gillenwalters of Alachua; close lifelong friend: Edith Melvin of Brooker; four great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Reed Emery Lewis and daughter Debra Ann Pittman. Funeral services for Mrs. Lewis will be Thursday, October 1, 2009 at 11:00 AM in the DeWitt C. Jones Chapel with Pastor Frank Starling officiating. Interment will follow in Crosby Lake Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Chapel one hour prior to services.
