Inez Evelyn BattenMrs. Inez Evelyn Starling Batten age 85, of Port St. Lucie formerly of Starke passed away Saturday, March 9, 2013 at St. Lucie Medical Center. Mrs. Batten was born in Bradford County on August 6, 1927 to the late Lonzo R. and Villa (Griffis) Starling and moved to Port St. Lucie 8 years ago from Starke. She was a founding member of Starke Church of God now the River of Life Church of God and was a homemaker. Preceding her in death was her husband J.C. Batten; siblings: Mark Lee Starling, H.D. Starling, Lonzo Starling, Vernon Starling, Paul Starling, Harvey Starling, Nettie Ruth Kirkland, Marie Brantley, Lugene Baxley and Delores McCormick. Survivors are: daughters: Carolyn Wainwright Christian (John); Lynda Wainwright Weiner (Gary) all of Port St. Lucie; son: Herbert G. Wainwright of Fresno, CA; sisters: Naomi Starling of Starke; Ruby Harris of Jacksonville; grandchildren: Eric Weiner (Primavera) of Deerfield Beach; Joel Weiner (Crystal) of Ocala; and Suzanne Weiner of Port St. Lucie; great grandchildren: Austin Weiner; Ginger Weiner; and Nathaniel Weiner; many nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends in the DEWITT C. JONES CHAPEL in Starke on Sunday, March 17, 2013 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Funeral services will be on Monday morning, March 18, 2013 at 10 oclock in the River of Life Church of God with Reverend Robert Johnson officiating. Interment will follow in Kingsley Lake Cemetery.
