Mrs. Irene Handley Parks, 90 of Keystone Heights died Tuesday, August 4, 2009 at the Windsor Manor Nursing Home. Mrs. Parks was born on June 5, 1919 in Morgan County, AL to the late George F. and L Mary L. (Chaney) Smith. Prior to retirement, Mrs. Parks was a winder at the Indian Head Yarn & Thread Company in Anniston, AL. In 1976 Mrs. Parks had moved to Keystone Heights from Anniston and became a member of the Keystone Heights First Baptist Church where she was active in the Victory in Jesus Sunday School Class. Mrs. Parks volunteered her time at the Starke Hospital and Suwannee River Senior Center. Her survivors include her son: David (Wanda) Handley of Keystone Heights; sisters: Dorothy RIckles and Selma England both of Cullman, AL and Martha Cox of Springdale, AR. Grandson; James David Handley, Jr. (Cindy), granddaughter; Pamela R. Handley (Brian), and great grandson; James David Handley, III, all of Gainesville and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. Viewing for Mrs. Parks will be held on Thurs. Aug 6th 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home. Funeral services will be held on Fri. Aug. 7, 2009 at 10 oclock in the First Baptist Church with Pastor Jim Prose officiating. Burial will follow at the Keystone Heights Cemetery.
