It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of J.R. Johnson on Saturday, November 11th, 2023. JR Johnson, Jr. was born April 1, 1957, in Okolona, MS to Berta James and J.R. (Kenny) Johnson. J.R. was a cherished and active member of the community, known for his kind heart and friendly demeanor. He was always willing to help and never met a stranger.J.R. was a devoted volunteer firefighter, a local handyman, a loving husband of 32 years to Wanda Johnson, and a caring father, grandfather, and brother. He is survived by his sons David (Janel) and Tony (Stacey); his daughters Sharon (Mark) and Jennifer; his brothers Robert, Jimmy (Lee Ann), Troy (Emma), Paul (Barbara), Charles (Amy), his sisters Rose, Angie, and Jessica (Hyman), as well as numerous other family members including nieces, nephews, grandkids, and great grandkids. J.R was preceded in death by his mother Berta, Father Kenny, and brother James.A celebration of J.R.'s life will be held at Freedom Baptist Church on Saturday, November 18th, at 11 am.
