Mrs. Jackie Johns age 80 of New River passed away at her home Thursday, August 24, 2023. She was born in Jacksonville, FL to Barney Haltiwanger and Mary (Rice) Carter. Prior to retiring she worked in accounting for different banking institutions, but first and foremost, she was a dedicated pastors wife. Mrs. Johns was a member of Bayless Highway Baptist Church, and most defiantly loved being a "Nana" and G-Nana". In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death also by her husband of 61 years Reverend Fred Carlton Johns, Sr. Mrs. Johns is survived by her three children Carl Johns (Cheryl) of New River, Tammy Ross (Wesley) of Quitman, Georgia, and Diane Wade of Citra. She was lovingly called "Nana" by grandchildren Sarah, Josh, Aleesa, Victoria, Jenna, Creighton, Carly, Scott, Tracy, and Heather and "G-Nana" by 19 great grandchildren. The family will receive friends beginning at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, September 2, 2023, at Bayless Highway Baptist Church. Funeral services will begin at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Mike Conner officiating.
