Mrs. Jacquelin Ann "Jackie" (Parker) Grider, age 86, a lifelong resident of Starke passed away Monday, March 10, 2025, at her home surrounded by her loving daughters and grand cats. She was born on August 5, 1938, in Jacksonville to Jack Jim and Ann (McRae) Parker. Mrs. Grider was a graduate with the Class of 1956 from Bradford High School where she participated in the marching band as a majorette, as well as being a member of the Glee Club, Pep Club, BETA Club, and Little Womans Club. In September of 56, she married the love of her life Kenneth Grider which was only the beginning of a wonderful 67 year journey together. For several years Jackie worked in the office for Dr. Pete Felos prior to becoming Bradford Countys first female rural letter carrier serving the post office for 30 years. She enjoyed regularly volunteering for holiday projects in Nancys classroom, until COVID, where she was lovingly known as "Ms. Jackie" by hundreds of elementary-aged children. She was an active member of the Starke Woman's Club and a devoted member of St. Marks Episcopal Church where she served on the altar guild, sang in the choir, enjoyed being the organist for 20 plus years, and continued to be an active member of the Daughters of the King. She looked forward to the weekly card games with the ladies of the church. She enjoyed being one of the Green Acres "Moms", loved fellowshipping with friends and her neighborhood family, spending time with her family and friends at Kingsley Lake and Georges Lake, hosting post office picnics, baking specialty birthday cakes and more, watching and feeding the birds as well as fishing, watching sunsets, and anything else to do with nature especially seeing Gods handy work in her flowers throughout the yard. Her home and heart were open to all. Her devotion to her family, her church, and all her friends will never be forgotten. They "broke" the mold when they made her. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her loving and devoted husband of 67 years Kenneth Grider and her sister Pamala Parker Tison. Left behind to cherish her memory are her daughters, Catherine Grider of Monticello, Nancy Grider of Gainesville and Starke, brother in-law Lloyd Grider of Starke, and multiple fur babies who gave her great joy and comfort. Also left behind are two nephews and a niece Billy, Amy, and Andy whom she adored in addition to great nieces and nephews who will miss her dearly. The family will receive friends at St. Marks Episcopal Church Parish Hall on Friday, March 21, 2025, from 5 - 7 p.m. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 22, 2025, at St. Marks Episcopal Church with The Rev. Mark Atkinson officiating. A reception will immediately follow the services in the Parish Hall. A private interment will be at Crosby Lake Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Marks Episcopal Legacy Fund, P.O. Box 487, Starke, FL 32091.
