Mr. James "Billy" Hartwell Breeden 91 a longtime resident of the Melrose areapassed away Friday, December 22, 2023, at Haven Hospice E. T. York CareCenter in Gainesville. He was born February 12, 1932, in Gainesville to Roscoand Foy (Hill) Breeden. Prior to his retirement he was the Supervisor withPerry Construction for 20 years. He enjoyed being outside, working in the yard,fishing, and owned thefirst Mill workshop in Keystone Heights. He was also a very talentedwoodsman; he was known for building cabinets, houses, boats, and had anintricate part in the building of the Gainesville Library in addition to manyother projects. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by hisloving and devoted wife of nearly 48 years, Mary Inez Breeden and hisdaughter Karen Elizabeth Packham. Mr. Breeden leaves behind his childrenCharles William Breeden (Mia) of Daleville, Alabama, Terry Ruth Stidham(DeWayne) of High Springs, James Michael Breeden (Ruth) of Palm Bay andTheresa Webster (Ron Strzykalski) of Gainesville along with a sister ThelmaMaratto (Edward) of Gainesville. He was lovingly called "Grandpa" by manygrandchildren and great grandchildren. A Graveside Service will be heldWednesday, December 27, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. Interment will be at NorthPleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.
