James Albert "Jim" Callahan

Mr. James A. "Jim" Callahan, Jr. age 69, of Keystone Heights passed away Sunday, January 21, 2018 at Shands Hospital in Gainesville following a lengthy illness. He was born in San Diego, California on March 2, 1948 to the late James A. and Mary Eugenia (Oldfield) Callahan, Sr. and had served in the United States Navy for four years. Mr. Callahan was a retired automobile mechanic and craftsman. He was a Parishioner of St. William Catholic Church, a longtime member of the S.C.A., and had also participated many years in Medieval Fairs. Mr. Callahan was known for his many talents such as being a pocket watch repairman, knife maker, machinist and automobile mechanic. He enjoyed spending time with family, model trains and collecting antiques and coins. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Colleen Callahan and son, John Callahan along with a sister, Kathleen Whipple and his very special aunt Wilhelmina Oldfield who was 103 years old. He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Norma (Paranto) and their two sons, Scott Callahan (Tania) and Jim Callahan (Megan) all of Keystone Heights. Also left behind is a brother, Dan Callahan (Charlotte) of Middleburg and two sisters, Mary Harris (Bill) of South Carolina and Barbara McClain (Fred) of Georgia and he was "Grampy" to nine beautiful grandchildren and uncle to eighteen special nephews and nieces. The family will receive friends on Friday, February 2, 2018 from 6-8 p.m. at the St. William Catholic Church. Funeral Mass for Mr. Callahan will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, February 3, 2018 at St. William Catholic Church. Interment will follow at 2:00 p.m. at Holly Hill Cemetery in Middleburg. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to either Catholic Charities or March of Dimes in memory of his late daughter, Colleen Callahan.
