Mr. James Albert Cooper, age 71 of Keystone Heights passed away Monday, March 3, 2025, in Gainesville following a 20 year long battle with cancer. He was born November 2, 1953, in Panama City to the late Charles and Alma (Fox) Cooper.Mr. Cooper proudly served in both the U.S. Navy and the U.S. Army, where he achieved the rank of Specialist 4 (SP4) as a Medic. Following his military service, he had a career in the medical field as a respiratory therapist and dedicated his life to his family and community. He was a member of Trinity Baptist Church and had a passion for helping others. He enjoyed being outdoors, golf was a passion, fishing, grilling at family cookouts, and bringing everyone together with good music and delicious meals. He was a devoted husband, father, brother, and friend, leaving behind a legacy filled with love, laughter, and unforgettable memories.Mr. Cooper leaves behind his beloved wife, Mary Jackson-Cooper of Keystone Heights; children, Joshua Cooper (Ashton) of Daphne, Alabama, Perry Bergman (Lindsey) of Foley, Alabama, Charli Cooper of Daytona Beach, Cathy Lamoureux (Kevin) of Jacksonville, and Benjamin Ratliff (Angela) of Bryceville; siblings, Edward Cooper (Kathy), and Marjorie Cooper all of Pensacola, and Connie Cooper of Fowl River, Alabama. He was lovingly called "Papa James" by grandchildren Kit (Dillon), Morgan (Tanner), Gavin, Benjamin, Jr., Samantha, Adelaide, Lux, Eloise, Leo, and great grandchildren Rosa, Luca, Titus, Asher James, Mosaic.A graveside service will be held on Friday, March 21, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. central time at Barrancas National Cemetery in Pensacola with Pastor Brandon Denmark officiating.
