James Brown Goodson III of Keystone Heights, Florida, passed awaySeptember 4, 2022, in the comfort of his home in Keystone Heights.Visitation and Funeral will be held at First United Methodist Church, 419 NE1st St., Gainesville, FL at noon on Friday, September 9th. Pastor Beth Starr ofFirst Methodist Church officiating.Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, SE 21st Ave., Gainesville, FL.Forrest Meadows Funeral Home of Gainesville is handling the funeralarrangements.James was born in Gainesville to James Brown Goodson Jr. and HelenGoodson on December 27, 1938. He attended local elementary school andGainesville High School and went on to get his AA at Santa Fe College.James joined the Navy in 1956 and was stationed in Long Beach, CA.After leaving the Navy James pursued a career as a pipe fitter and became asupervisor for the Fluor Corporation which took him to work in manydifferent countries all over the world with his wife Jeanne. Together they hadsome incredible adventures and made many great memories.James was a huge sports fan and rarely missed watching a Gator gamewhether home or abroad. His love and compassion for animals came straightfrom his heart.James enjoyed his retirement in their beautiful lake home in KeystoneHeights where he was visited often by his daughters, 7 grandchildren, and 13great-grandchildren.He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Helen Goodson; and issurvived by his wife, Jeanne Goodson; daughter, and son-in-law, Lori Burk-Pelcher & Randy Pelcher; daughter, Laura Goodson, & Jeri Mantivoni;grandchildren, Tony Pawlik Kaylee Burk, Scott Burk, Brianna O'Steen, CoriePelcher Ochs, Casie Pelcher Yorti, Michael Pelcher, and 13 great-grandchildren
