James (Jim) Moton Hearn, IIIpassed away suddenly on June 15, 2017 at the age of 65. He was born in Fort Benning, Georgia on June 17, 1951 to James M. and Katherine P. Hearn, Jr. He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his daughter Jaki Mokry (Ben) of Nesbit, MS, and brother Steve Hearn of Gainesville, and sister Jan Hearn Clayton (Bobby) of Merritt Island, FL, and grandchildren Hannah, Emma, Wynn, and Molly Mokry of Nesbit, MS, and nieces Natalie (Roger) Clayton of NYC, Haley Clayton Boswell (Patrick) of Atlanta, and Annie Clayton Orrison (Pete) of Melbourne, FL, and great nieces Olivia, Meryn, and great nephew Noah, and 12 Pope cousins. He also leaves behind his best friend and love, Chris Elmquist. Jim graduated from Gainesville High School in 1969 and the University of Florida in 1974 with a bachelor's degree in business administration. He worked with JC Penney's and Payless. He also taught bridge with Santa Fe Community College. He enjoyed writing science fiction, as well as photography and nature. He was a devoted Gator sports fan and also a member of the Alachua County Dart Association. There will be a memorial service at7:00 PM,Friday June 23, 2017at Forest Meadows Funeral Home, 725 NW 23rd Avenue, Gainesville. James will be cremated and his ashes placed in Forest Meadows Cemetery.
