Mr. James "Jimmy" Howard age 92, of Florahome passed away Sunday, August 21, 2016 in Jacksonville. He was born in Sebring on September 17, 1923 to the late Ernest and Nellie (Avery) Howard. Mr. Howard was a veteran of the United States Navy serving on Navel ships, U.S. Roper and George K. McKenzie during WWII. In 1992 Mr. Howard moved to Florahome from Tampa where he had retired as an electrician. He was a member of Oak Avenue Baptist Church in Florahome and was also a Nobles of the Mystic Shrine. Mr. Howard was preceded in death by his son, Danny Howard. His survivors are his wife of 22 years, Mable (Norris) Howard; two children, Deborah I. Anders and Donald T. Howard (Holly) all of Tampa and one brother, Tommy D. Howard (Susan) of Lake City. Also left behind are Mables four children; Marsha Ellis (Walker) of Plantation, Charlotte Lewis (Travis) of Garner, North Carolina, Shirley Dickinson and Dan Bowen (Linda) all of Jacksonville along with eleven grandchildren and nineteen great grandchildren. Funeral services for Mr. Howard will be held on Saturday, August 27, 2016, at 2:00 p.m. in the Town and Country Funeral Home Chapel, 7242 Normandy Blvd., Jacksonville, FL 32205. Interment with military honors will immediately follow in the Riverside Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends one hour prior to the services beginning.
