James "Leon" Kuykendall, 94 of Keystone Heights, died at home surrounded by his family under the care of Haven Hospice on Monday, December 4, 2023. He was born December 22, 1928 in Brooksville, Florida to the late James W. and Lena M. (Leggett). He retired as a dredge operator at E.I. Dupont. He was a member of Hope Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Eva Mae (Triest) Kuykendall, his son, John Wayne Kuykendall, daughter in law, Sandie Kuykendall, and siblings, Marie Marek, Gladys Bowles Tucker, William "Bill" Kuykendall, and Wilma Parker. Survivors are his children, Joanne Davenport and Jim Kuykendall of Keystone Heights, Sherry Newsome (Doyle) of Jacksonville, brother, George Kuykendall of Temperance, Michigan, seven grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren, and three great great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Friday, December 8, 2023 at 3:00 p.m. at Jones-Gallagher Funeral Home in Keystone Heights with visitation held one hour prior to services.
