James Beaman Lester, Jr. Funeral services for James Beaman Lester, Jr., 67, will be held at 10:00A.M. Thursday, August 29, 2013 in the chapel of George H. Hewell and Son Funeral Home, 4140 University Boulevard, South, with Dr. Terry N. Collins of Southpoint Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow at 12:30P.M. Thursday, in Jacksonville National Cemetery, with military honors. Born October 4, 1945 in Atlanta, Georgia, Mr. Lester died Saturday, August 24, 2013 in a local hospital. Mr. Lester served in the United States Navy during Operation Desert Shield. He retired from Quality Control with Civil Service. Survivors include his mother, Mrs. Sarah Catherine Mackenzie; a daughter, Mrs. Catherine Melissa (Matt) Williams, both of Jacksonville; a son, Michael Shane Lester of Yulee, FL; a brother, Joseph Reid (Patricia) Lester of Chatham, NJ; three grandchildren, Justin Drouin, Taylor Drouin, and Jordon Williams; and two aunts, Marilyn May of Atlanta, GA and Ona Lester of Conyers, GA. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.
