Mr. James "Jim" Farland Moon, Sr. age 87, of Melrose passed away, Tuesday, November 14, 2017. He was born in Ocala on September 22, 1930 to the late James Rufus and Olive Moon. After graduating with the class of 1950 from P.K. Yonge High School, he then attended the University of Florida, and had also served in the National Guard for 10 years. He retired as a supervisor with waste water management and in 2003 he moved from West Palm Beach to Melrose. Mr. Moon was a member of Eliam Baptist Church and enjoyed fishing, gardening, reading and hunting. He was also an avid Gator fan and enjoyed helping his son work on old cars and trucks. Mr. Moon was preceded in death by his first wife of 34 years, Elisa Moon and a sister, Frances Barbara Jandeisek. His survivors are his wife of 29 years, Constance (Taylor) Moon of Melrose; four children; Linda Moon Eubanks (Kenny) of Melrose, James Farland Moon, Jr. (Tina) of Ft. McCoy, Mary Galbraith (Tim) and Frances Moon all of Melrose. Also left behind are four grandchildren, Zachary, Ryan, Charles and Sarah along with two great granddaughters, Adelyn and Bella. Funeral services for Mr. Moon will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, November 17, 2017 in Eliam Baptist Church with Pastor Art Johnson officiating. The family will receive friends at the church beginning at 9:30 a.m. Interment will follow at 2:30 p.m. at Hickory Springs Cemetery in Dunnellon.
