James "Bill" Newman, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and cherished friend went to be with the Lord on September 12, 2025, at the age of 89. He was born on February 7, 1936, in Savannah, Georgia, and spent most of his years in Orlando Florida until his retirement in 2001 when he moved to Gainesville Florida, where he spent many years following his beloved Gators.
Upon leaving University of Florida, Bill began his career in insurance in 1957. He later bought an insurance agency in Pine Castle, Florida and grew Newman-Crane and Associates for 36 years until his retirement in 2001. His keen ability to understand people and their needs made him a standout in his field.
Bill is survived by his devoted wife of 67 years, Susan, his four children, Jamie Newman Buckner (Steve), Tracey Newman Baker (Mark), Allison Newman Kuller (Whalen) and James Blakeley (Blake) Newman (Jami). Bill loved his grandchildren Kristen, Kiley, Brett, Taylor, Megan, Jackson, Lauren, Ansley, Hartley, Ryder and Weston and his great grandchildren Nolan, Carson and Daly. He sadly is predeceased by his grandchild Blake Kuller. The legacy he leaves behind is one of warmth, humor, and resilience, and he will be deeply missed by all who have the privilege of knowing him.
Family and friends are invited to come together to celebrate Bill's remarkable life, reflecting on the joy he brought to those around him.
Bill's Celebration of Life will be held at 11:30 AM on Friday November 28, 2025, in the Chapel of Moloney- Hewell Funeral Home.
A reception will follow 12:30 PM to 2:30 PM at Lakeside Dining at Cypress Village - 4600 Middleton Park Circle East, Jacksonville, FL 32224.
Bill's legacy is the way he loved Jesus, his wife and all his family.
