James Andrew Self SELF: Funeral services for James Andrew Self, 93, who died December 21, 2011, will be held Tuesday at 11:00 AM from the graveside in Evergreen Cemetery (Gate # 2) with Dr. Terry Collins officiating. The family will receive friends Monday from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM at George H. Hewell and Son Funeral Home, 4747 Main Street, Jacksonville, FL 32206. Mr. Self was a native of Jacksonville, Florida and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He had served during WWII and was a recipient of the Purple Heart. He had retired from Southern Bell after 43 years of service and was a member of Telephone Pioneers of America and the Baptist faith. Preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, the late Mariam Self.
