James Edward Stokes, 65 of Gainesville died Wednesday, June 19, 2013 at the VA Medical Center in Gainesville. Mr. Stokes was born on November 27, 1947 to Joe and Joann Stokes and retired from the US Navy serving in the Vietnam War. James was a lifetime member of the DAV. He was a Baptist.James is survived by his wife Nancy Fulwood Stokes, sons, Jon and Steven, a brother, Tom Stokes, his mother Joann Stokes, and 5 grandchildren.There will be a graveside service for James at 10:0 a.m. on Saturday, June 29, 2013 at the Forest Meadows Memorial Park East Military Garden of Honor, 3700 SE Hawthorne Road, Gainesville, FL.
