James T Thompson

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of James Tully Thompson, who left us on December 2, 2025, at the age of 87. Born on November 7, 1938, in Macon, Georgia. James was a beloved son, father, grandfather, and friend. He was a retired Electrical Line Worker for the City of Gainesville and a member of Gainesville Baptist Church.

He is survived by his son, Floyd Thompson (Vivian), his daughter, Zina Thompson, both of Gainesville, Florida, and his stepdaughters, Sherri Bowen (Lennie) and Melissa Moss, both of Bullock, North Carolina. Sixteen grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. James is predeceased by his Loving Wife of 38 years Judith D. Thompson.

Family and friends are invited to attend the funeral service at Gainesville Baptist Church, 3570 NW 16th Blvd, Gainesville, FL 32605, on December 6, 2025, at 10:45 a.m. Following the service, there will be a brief graveside service at Forest Meadows Cemetery West
