James H. "Woody" Tillman, Jr. passed away peacefully on January 11, 2023 with his family by his side. A native Floridian, Woody was born on July 2, 1948, in Jacksonville and lived there until 2018 when he moved to Seminole. Woody graduated from Jean Ribault High School and the University of North Florida and served as a Staff Sergeant in the U.S. Army Reserves. Woody was a member of First Jacksonville Baptist Church.Woody began his business career with P * I * E Nationwide in Transportation and Logistics. He retired from Tree of Life, Inc. in St. Augustine after 30 years of successful work in the Transportation and Logistics field. Woody loved cheering on his Jags and being outdoors hunting, fishing, hiking, or canoeing. He was happiest when he was in a forest with friends and family.Woody was predeceased by his parents James Haywood and Gloria Tillman. He is survived by his wife of 30 years Leigh, his sons James (Mary) Tillman, III and Dave (Ashley) Wood, granddaughter Erin Tillman, brother Steve (Irina), sister Nancy (Bobby) Thigpen, many cousins, nieces and nephews, and a host of friends including his best friend, Cierra Greenfield.The family will receive friends at the visitation on Friday, January 20th from 6:00pm-8:00 pm at George H. Hewell and So Funeral Home, 4747 N. Main St. Jax, FL. His life celebration will be on Saturday , January 21st at 1:30pm in the chapel of George H. Hewell and Son (4747 N Main St).
