James "Robert" Whitehead

Mr. James "Robert" Whitehead, Sr. age 77 of Starke, passed away January 8, 2019 at Haven Hospice in Gainesville. Robert was born on October 7, 1941 in Bradford County to the late James "J.B." and Geneva (Griffis) Whitehead. He was a hard working cattle farmer and did not let anything come between his cows and his crops. Robert was an early riser and could be found every morning between 3:00 and 3:30 at Grannies Restaurant. Robert will be remembered for the clothes he always wore and the hard working life he lived.He was preceded in death by his parents; and son, Brian Whitehead. Survivors include his wife, Brenda (Page) Whitehead of Starke; son Jamie (Pam) Whitehead of Starke; his grandchildren, Clay Whitehead (Lizzie) of Jennings, and Taylor (Justin) Woods of Hampton; siblings: Sandra W. Reddish (Jim) of Melrose, Linda W. Johns of Starke, Elaine Tyler (the late Gregory) of Lilburn, GA, Joan Whitehead of Starke, Jerry Whitehead of Alma, GA, and Barry Whitehead of Starke. Funeral services will be held at First Baptist Church of Starke at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, January 11, 2019 with a viewing from 1:00 P.M. to 2 oclock. Services will be officiated by Rev. Ben Bryant and Rev. Scott Crook. Burial will take place at Connor Cemetery.In lieu of flowers donation may be made in Mr. Whiteheads memory to Haven Hospice at 4200 NW 90th Blvd., Gainesville, FL 32606.
