Mrs. Janet Louise Hardwick age 90 of Gainesville formerly of Melrose passed away at the Village on Thursday, March 19, 2015. She was born in Lynn, Indiana on August 3, 1924 to the late Author and Ona (Whitter) Brown. Mrs. Hardwick was a homemaker and a member of Keystone Community Church; she taught childrens Sunday school class, she enjoyed singing and was a member of the ladies group at church. Mrs. Hardwick was preceded in death by her brother Jerry Joe Brown and is survived by her husband of 71 years, Phillip "Dean" Hardwick and their children: Diane K. Sherley (William Wallace) of Gainesville, Deana Ray Hewett (Larry) of Ocala, Tommy Allen Hardwick (Carol) of Union, Ohio and adopted son, Ronald Ozbun of Gainesville. Also left behind are her two sisters, Kathryn Faye Mercer of Naples, Betty Jean Retter of Ft. Myers, 21 grandchildren and spouses, 30 great grandchildren and spouses and 30 great-great grandchildren. Funeral services for Mrs. Hardwick will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 24, 2015 in the Keystone Community Church with Pastor Rob Morford officiating. The family will receive friends at the church beginning at 1:00 p.m. Interment will be at a later date.
