Her parents met and married in Boston in 1925, and Janette was born in 1927. She was raised in the assemblies, and the beliefs and associations made there have sustained and enriched her whole life. Janette was a war time bride, traveling to Newport News, Virginia to marry a newly minted pilot, James Harvey, before he left for the Philippines. Janette worked as a bookkeeper and secretary, including serving as the secretary to the president of a local insurance company. In her 30s she earned a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) degree and worked in a pediatric practice for most of her career. Janettes mother was widowed very young and lived with us, and my father's parents were Scottish too, so Scottish brogues and foods were common in our household. My parents made a multi-page dictionary of Scottish phrases used in their parent's households, and it brings back memories. My parents loved to travel and took many trips and cruises, often with friends, especially the Rileys. They took a trip around the world, went to Africa and South America, and drove to Alaska from Boston. I asked my mother which was the prettiest places she had seen, and she chose New Zealand and Lake Louise in Canada. When my parents retired, they spent summers at their cottage in New Hampshire and winters in Florida. My mother continued to summer in New Hampshire until she was 90. My parents moved into the Park of the Palms in 2000, so the last 23 years of my moms life she was in a church community, surrounded by lifelong friends and many new ones, and with increasing support available when needed. She lived for 96 years, had many adventures, and slipped away to heaven without fear or pain. It happens that the graveside ceremony will be on my father's birthday, reminding us that they are reunited in heaven.Virginia Viau
