Mrs. Janice Elaine Alvarez 82 of Starke passed away Tuesday, September 27, 2022, at Haven Hospice in Gainesville following an extended illness. She was born August 4, 1940, in Raiford to Everett J. and Hester (Foles) Blume. Prior to retiring Mrs. Alvarez worked as the Regional Manager for Handyway and Kangaroo Food Stores. She was a member of the First Baptist Church and was known for her great cooking. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Stephen Franklin Alvarez, Sr. and her two children, Dana Lynn Alvarez and Stephen Franklin Alvarez, Jr. Mrs. Alvarez is survived by her grandchildren who also lovingly called her "Meme" Cole Whitehead (Amanda), Ashley Alvarez, Gracie Alvarez and Leavy Alvarez (Melissa) along with great grandchildren Shyann, Morgan, Jakob, Justin, Aidan, Jaxon, Alaina, Lauren, Emily, and Olivia all of Starke. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, October 3, 2022, at Mt. Zion Cemetery in Lake Butler with Reverend Roman Alvarez officiating.
