Janis Brown passed away peacefully at the age of 100 on January 20, 2019. Born on June 14, 1918 to Horace Dakin and Edna Guyon Hockett in New Symrna, FL she moved to Jacksonville in 1927. She attended Brentwood ES, Kirby Smith JHS and graduated from Andrew Jackson SHS in 1936.She was active in the Girl Scouts and later became a Leader and Camp Counselor. She was also active with the Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts and Campfire Girls. She was a charter Member of the duPont HS Band Boosters, Mrs. Brown was also a member of the Englewood Home Makers Club (50 yrs), Jacksonville Genealogy and Southern Genealogy Societies.She was preceded in death by her husband Harmon James Brown (1985), son Bruce Alan Brown (2005) and son in law John Francis Losco (2014). She is survived by her son Robert David Brown (Carolyn), daughter Barbara Janis Losco and daughter in law Valerie Lane Brown, 7 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. There will be a private burial at Oaklawn Cemetery in Jacksonville..
