Jennie R. Claxton

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Jennie Ruth Claxton, who peacefully departed this world on May 31, 2026, at the age of 91. Born on May 10, 1935, in Alma, Georgia, Jennie was a beloved daughter, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, whose legacy of love and kindness will forever resonate in the hearts of those who knew her.

Jennie graduated from Andrew Jackson High School in 1953 and dedicated her professional life to the Prudential Insurance Company, where she worked diligently for 37 years before retiring. A steadfast member of the First Baptist Church in Jacksonville, Jennie was deeply rooted in her faith, drawing strength and comfort from her favorite scriptures, Philippians 4:4-7 and John 14:1-3.

She is survived by her loving daughters, Debra Firth (Sonny), and Diane Huffman; grandson Douglas Firth (Kelly); and great-grandchild Landon Firth. Jennie's unwavering love for her family was evident in everything she did, and her nurturing spirit will be dearly missed.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., with the funeral service immediately following at 12:00 p.m. at Moloney-Hewell Funeral Home, 4140 University Blvd. S., Jacksonville, FL 32216. A reception will be held at the funeral home following the service. Interment will take place at 3:00 p.m. at Greenlawn Cemetery.
