A funeral service for Jepsy W. Barker, Sr, of Jacksonville, FL will be held in the chapel of George H. Hewell and Son Funeral Home, 4140 University Boulevard, South on Tuesday, December 27, 2022 at 2PM with Pastor Bruce Seger officiating. A visitation will be held between the hours of 5-8PM on Monday, December 26, 2022 at the funeral home.Jepsy Barker and Blenda Hughes were childhood friends whom became romantically involved in 1953. They were happily married for sixty-nine years. They went on to have three children; Jepsy Jr., Teresa and Johnny. Six grandchildren; Jeremiah, Jesse, Ryan, Erin, Matthew and Chelsea. Nine great grandchildren and a great great grandson.In 1998, Jespy retired after forty two years of service with Winn Dixie stores as the building maintenance superintendent. He was highly respected in his career.He enjoyed being on the water boating and fishing. Jepsy loved his yearly trips with his awesome friends to the Smokey Mountains on his V65 Magnum Honda Motorcycle.Jepsy was blessed with a large and loving family, who will miss him dearly. He had a strong personality whom we could all lean on.On December 21, 2022 Jepsy lost his courageous battle against kidney disease.
