Jessie Mae Morris

Jessie Mae Morris of Alachua, Florida, passed away on September 4, 2026. 

She was 85 years old.Jessie was born June 22, 1941 in Dixie County, FL and lived in various parts of north central Florida throughout her lifetime. She married her late husband, Albert "Junior" C. Morris, Jr., in 1957.

Jessie loved her family, was very proud of her children, and loved spending time with her grandchildren in her younger years.

Jessie was a homemaker. She loved home decorating, flowers, photos of loved ones, shoes, china, tea parties, the Ivy House, all things Victorian, chocolate and almost anything that contained sugar.

Jessie loved shopping for and sending cards to family and friends and, along with Junior, often helped people in need. She was a member of the Hatchbend Apostolic Church for many years, before moving to Alachua.

Jessie is survived by her son Michael Morris (Lara); her daughters Theresa Woodward (Allen) and Lorraine Petro; her brothers Dalton Townsend and Don Townsend; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, and other extended family members. She was preceded in death by her husband Junior of 63 years, her sisters Donnie Smith and Edna Owens, and her son-in-law Dave Petro.

Visitation will be held at 11 a.m., preceding the funeral service at 12 p.m., on Friday, September 11, 2026 at Evans Carter Funeral Home, 18724High Springs Main Street in High Springs. There will not be a graveside service. Please feel free to dress comfortably; formal attire is not necessary.
