Jewell Jordan Wells

A funeral service for Jewell Jordan Wells, 100, of Jacksonville, FL will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday January 9, 2021 in Evergreen Cemetery, 4535 N. Main Street, with The Rev. David Preston officiating.Mrs. Wells passed away on January 2, 2021 at her home in Jacksonville. She is survived by her son, James E. Wells Jr.; her daughter, Elaine Richter (husband, Mike); 3 grandchildren, Michael Richter (Paula), Laura Krupp (Ben) & Patrick Richter (Ruth); 4 great grandchildren and by a brother, Walstein Jordan. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews & extended family.Mrs. Wells was born in Blackshear, GA to a sharecropper family where she was one of six children, 3 boys & 3 girls, to the late Henry & Susie Jordan. In 1942 she moved to Jacksonville to work at King Edward Cigars and later at Naval Air Station Jax, where she met the sailor who became the love of her life, James E. Wells, Sr. They were married for 73 years before he preceded her in death on February 2, 2017. Her biggest joys were helping her husband in their upholstery shop where she was a seamstress in the early years. Then she was a caregiver to her husbands aunt and showed all the love possible to her family & friends. In her last years, me as her son, witnessed her love for me to read to her in the bible, watch church on TV and hear Alan Jacksons Precious Memories religious collection of songs.Arrangements are under the direction of George H.
