Jimmy M Bowen

Mr. Jimmy Milton Bowen, age 87 of Starke, passed away Monday May 10, 2021 at UF Shands Hospital in Gainesville following a short illness. Jimmy was born October 4, 1933 in Cateechee, South Carolina to the late Oscar and Clessie (Reese) Bowen. He moved to Florida and made Starke his home. He was a former Chief of Police in Starke, where he retired after 15 years. He also served the community in other positions including Bradford County, and City of Starke, commissioners.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, James Michael Bowen and his brother, Robert Bowen.Jimmy is survived by his wife of 56 years, Sandra Solano Bowen, and his children, Martin Lane Bowen (Carolyn), Tina Bowen King (Dale), and James Anthony Bowen (Latelsa); Brother, Billy Bowen, sister, Joan Perry, and daughter-in-law, Teresa Bowen. Also left are his nine grandchildren, Chris Bowen, Stephen Bowen, Chasity Cannon, Keshia Morgan, Jessica Hanson, Ashley Parrish, Mariah Bowen, James Anthony Bowen Jr., and Bryson Bowen. He also has 18 great grandchildren and his beloved dog Tootsie.A visitation will be held Sunday May 16, 2021 at 2:00 pm at the DeWitt C.
