John Thomas Cerezo, age 87, died on Saturday, December 8, 2018, at the ET York Hospice Care, in Gainesville, FL. John has been a 25-year resident of Gainesville, FL. He was born on October 25, 1931 in Key West, FL. to the late Onofre & Ruby Cerezo. John worked for 28 years for the City Electric System (now Key Energy Services), and retired as the Superintendent of Operations. Upon retirement, he and Betty moved to Greensboro, NC. in 1978, then moved to Gainesville in 1993. John's second career focused on sales and sales manager at three department stores - Montgomery Ward, Dillard's and Belk's where he worked in the men's department for each company. John was Christian and a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church, in Gainesville. John is preceded in death by his parents, 4 brothers and a sister. John is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Betty Cerezo, of Gainesville, FL., daughters, Janet C. Bell of Gainesville, and Nancy A. Cerezo of Greensboro, NC; Grandsons, Troy (Lilly) Bell and Brad (Karly) Bell, all of Gainesville, FL., 4 great grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews. The family and friends will gather at the Forest Meadows Funeral Home, 725 NW 23rd Ave, Gainesville, FL 32609, on Thursday, December 13, 2018, from 11-12 noon for the viewing. The Funeral Service will be held immediately after the viewing, in the chapel, and Rev. Dean Slocumb will officiate. Entombment will follow services at the Forest Meadows Memorial Park Central, Gainesville, FL. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the St. Jude's Children's Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
