John F. Coughlin

Coughlin John F. Coughlin, age 67, passed away on August 31, 2015 in Jacksonville after an illness. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 pm on Thursday, September 10, 2015, in the chapel of George H. Hewell & Son Funeral Home, 4140 University Blvd. South; with F.O.P. Chaplain Clarence Jarrell officiating. John was born in Rockville Center, New York, on February 9, 1948 to John I. and Lucy Coughlin. John served proudly in the United States Army for 10 and a half years as a military policeman and criminal investigator. He continued his law enforcement career for 25 years as a state police officer at the University of North Florida where he retired in 2005 with the rank of Captain. He received many awards and commendations throughout his career at UPD, including the life saving award. Mr. Coughlin is survived by his devoted and loving wife Carol; his father John I. Coughlin; his son John Patrick Coughlin and daughter Kelly Francis; sisters Donna Marie Coughlin, Lu Grimes, and Mary Jane Loss; and grandson Colin Malone Francis.
