John Wesley Hayes

Mr. John Wesley Hayes age 62, of Glen St. Mary went to be with the Lord on Friday, January 27, 2017 at Mayo Hospital in Jacksonville with his family by his side after a long battle with illness.He was born in Jacksonville on March 2, 1954 and migrated west after marrying his wife. He resided in Glen Saint Mary at his home that he built for his family. John is preceded in death by his parents Bruce and Bernice (Taylor) Hayes. He is survived by the love of his life, Mary Lou Hayes, and their two daughters together, Christina Michele Hayes and Sheri Lynn Hayes-Raulerson (Adam Raulerson). He was also a proud grandfather to his two and only grandsons, Elijah Hayes Deweese and Ian Hayes Deweese. He also leaves behind many siblings: Bobby Hayes (Rita), Michael Hayes, Darlene Hand (Danny) and Marlene Russell (Linnie). John was a generous friend to many, a hard worker, farmer, hunter, fisherman, Christian, father, grandfather, man of his word and provider. Before John fell ill he enjoyed working and providing for his family. He was well respected as a Supervisor at Gerdau Steel Mill before he was forced in to retirement due to circumstances surrounding his illness. John also enjoyed traveling to his favorite destination in the Great Smoky Mountains, hunting/fishing and fellowship with his friends. The family will receive friends at the DeWitt C. Jones Chapel on Monday, January 30, 2017 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM with funeral services beginning at 11 oclock with Rev. John Raulerson officiating.
