John George Toombs

Mr. John George Toombs age 85, of Keystone Heights passed away on Friday, August 18, 2017 at Roberts Care Center in Palatka after an extended illness. He was born on January 9, 1932 in Montgomery, New York to Alva and Dorothy (Cooper) Toombs. Formerly of Newburgh, New York, John moved to Keystone Heights 28 years ago and was a school bus driver before retiring. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, a member of the First Baptist Church of Keystone Heights, and he enjoyed carpentry and building things.John was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Helen Toombs; his son, Johnny Toombs; and brother, Carl Toombs. He is survived by his wife of 9 years, Marie J. Toombs; and his sons, Denis Toombs (Lori) and Timmy Toombs (Robin), all of Newburgh, New York. He also leaves behind grandchildren, Nieces, nephews, and numerous other family members and friends.Private family services will be held at a later date.
