John Francis Torrent

John Francis Torrent, 86, of Jacksonville, Florida passed away peacefully on December 20, 2015 at Hospice, The Morris Center for Caring. John was born January 15, 1929 in Jacksonville, Florida to Eugene Jerome Torrent, Sr. and Bonnie Ruby Greene. John retired as TSGT from U.S. Air Force Institute of Technology after honorably serving 20 years in both the United States and in Vietnam. He also received commendation from the Secretary of Defense for his service promoting peace and stability for this nation during the cold war period (2 September 1945 - 26 November 1991). Mr. Torrent was preceded in death by his parents and wife of 52 years, Barbara Annette. He is survived by his son, John Randall and granddaughter, Lara; Daughter, Barbara Annette Torrent Barber; Brothers, Eugene Jerome, Jr., and Donald Jackson (Mary); Sister, Catherine Torrent Driggers; Also his loving, devoted companion and caregiver, Katherine "Katy" Kline; Several nieces and nephews. He was loved by his neighbors and many friends that will miss him. Memorial services will be held Wednesday at 1:00 PM in Jacksonville National Cemetery with Rev. Andrea Fruscella officiating.
