Johnny R. Hobbs, 56, a county court judge in the 8th circuit court for 19 years, died Wednesday, August 7, 2013, at his home in Starke, FL. Johnny was born in Tallahassee on May 7, 1957 and had been a resident of Bradford County since 1972. A graduate of Bradford High School, Johnny went on to be a proud alumnus of the University of Florida in 1979. He also received his Juris Doctorate from UF in 1982. He later opened his law practice in Bradford County. He was an avid car and motorcycle enthusiast. He will be remembered as a fun-loving husband, father, Pop, brother and son. Johnny never met a stranger, positively impacting the lives of many.He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Kathy Casey Hobbs; two sons, Christopher Peet and Will, their wives, Sierra and Brittany; and grandson Peyton. He also leaves behind his mother, Dena Hobbs and sisters Teresa Hobbs and Sharon Norman, mother-in-law: Barbara Casey. He was preceded in death by his father Johnny Ray Hobbs.Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, August 9 at First Baptist Church of Starke. 163 W. Jefferson St., Starke, FL 32091. The celebration ceremony honoring his life will take place at 2 p.m. Saturday, August 10 also at First Baptist Church of Starke.
