Obituary

Johnny Ray Tanner, born on November 8, 1956, in Charleston, West Virginia, passed away peacefully on December 18, 2025, in Gainesville, Florida.

Johnny was a kind and gentle soul who valued family, friendship, and love above all else. He carried a deep affection for those close to him and formed lasting bonds with many loving friends who will miss him dearly.

He is survived by his sister, Wanda Miller and brother-in-law, James Miller Sr. , his nephew, James Miller, Jr.; and his wife, Cara Miller; and his three nieces, Melinda Allen, Christina Stepherson, and Sherry Miller, who remains with him in spirit. Johnny was also blessed to be a great-uncle to five great-nephews, five great-nieces, and one great-great nephew and one great-great niece, all of whom brought joy to his life.

Johnny is reunited in spirit with his beloved father and mother whom he loved very much and carried in his heart always.

Those who knew Johnny will remember his warmth, his quiet strength, and the love he shared so freely. His memory will live on through the many lives he touched.

Johnny was known for his gentle spirit and unwavering love for his family. He will be profoundly missed by his sister, Wanda Miller, whose bond with him was one of deep support and affection. Throughout his life, Johnny touched the hearts of all those who knew him, leaving behind fond memories that will be cherished forever.

A family viewing will be held at Moloney Hewell Funeral Home on December 30, 2025, at 12:00 PM, allowing loved ones to gather in remembrance and support. Following the viewing, a graveside service will take place at Arlington Memorial Park, located at 6920 Lone Star Rd, Jacksonville, FL, at 2:30 PM, where he will be laid to rest.

Prior to these services, a visitation will be held at Forest Meadows Funeral Home on December 29, 2025, at 12:00 PM. This gathering will provide an opportunity for friends and family to come together to celebrate Johnny's life and share stories that reflect the joy he brought to so many.

Johnny's impact on those around him will not be forgotten, and his memory will continue to live on in the hearts of his family and friends. May he rest in peace, and may we honor his life with love and remembrance.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made in Johnny's name to a charity of your choice, reflecting his spirit of generosity and kindness.
