Joseph F. Glisson Sr., age 70, passed away on Monday August 3, 2020 in Jacksonville, FL.He was born on May 8, 1950 in Statesboro, GA to Virgil Glisson & Ruby Cowart Glisson. Mr. Glisson served our country in the U.S. Army in Vietnam as a paratrooper serving with the 173rd Airborne Brigade. He also enjoyed football, baseball, nascar and fishing. He was a mechanic and business owner by trade, and he and his wife owned G&M Transmmission service for over 20 years, retiring in 2009.Mr. Glisson was preceded in death by his parents, Virgil and Ruby Glisson, and a brother, Earl Glisson Jr. He is survived by his loving and adoring wife of almost 45 years, Linda J. Glisson; daughters, Laura Stonacek & Michelle Moore; son, Joseph Glisson Jr.; sisters, Gloria Burchfield(Carl), Janie Conrad(Jim), Judy Kirkland(Sam)& LuAnn Altendorf(Chuck); brothers, Steve Glisson(Darlene) & Tommy Glisson(Kerry); grandchildren, Hope Moore & Tiffany Moore; great-grandchildren, MiAysia Tanner, Chanelle Edenfield, Chandler Edenfield & Courtney Edenfield; numerous extended family and friends.Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday August 10, 2020 in the chapel of George H. Hewell and Son Funeral Home, 4140 University Blvd. S., with Rev. John McWhorter officiating. Due to the ongoing circumstances, masks & social distancing will be required. Interment will follow in Jacksonville National Cemetery. Visitation will be held the evening prior, on Sunday from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.Flowers may be sent to George H.
