Joseph William "J.W." Noble, 75, passed away on Sunday April 27, 2014 in Jacksonville. J.W. was born in Haines City, FL on March 28, 1939 to Woodrow Noble and Louise Poe Noble. A longtime Jacksonville resident, he was a graduate of Paxon Senior High School, class of 1958 and received his Bachelor's Degree from U.N.F. A proud American, J.W. served his country with distinction in the U.S. Army for 30 years, achieving the rank of Lt. Col., and as a patrolman with the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office where he spent 35 years until his retirement from both. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday April 30, 2014 in the chapel of George H. Hewell and Son Funeral Home, 4140 University Blvd., S. with J.S.O. Chaplain Clarence Garrell officiating. Interment will follow in Jacksonville National Cemetery, 4083 Lannie Rd., at 1:30 p.m. The family will receive friends for visitation for the hour prior to service, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Mr. Noble was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings, Lewis, who was tragically killed in Vietnam, Joan and Gary. Mr. Noble was greatly loved by his family and they will miss him deeply. He is survived by his beloved wife of 51 years, Wanda Joy Noble; his son, Joseph William Noble II "Jody" (wife, Cathy); a granddaughter, Megan Noble; a great grandson, Hayden Green; 3 siblings Jean, Grace & Wayne and many extended family members, military & police brothers and friends .
