Joseph "Joey" Samuel Samaniego

Joseph Samuel Samaniego II, age 21, of Melrose passed away on Monday, December 5, 2016. Joey was born in Jacksonville on August 1, 1995 and graduated with the Keystone Heights High School class of 2013. He was studying at the University of Florida while employed by the Bradford County Health Department. He was a member of Lake Hill Baptist Church. Joey was an avid USC fan. In his spare time he enjoyed bee keeping, playing video games, and cooking. He will be remembered for his generous smile and the amount of love he always showed his friends and family.He is survived by his mother Sandra (Lydeen) Oglesby; and two sisters, Ashley Steimke of Gainesville and Rachael Samaniego of Orange Park; father Kent Samaniego of Orange Park; maternal grandparents Leroy and Carolyn Lydeen; paternal grandmother Sondra Martin; and paternal step-grandmother Marlene Samaniego all of California. Joey is preceded in death by his step-father David Oglesby and paternal grandfather Sam Samaniego.A memorial service was held on Saturday, December 10th at Lake Hill Baptist Church with Pastor Jim Snell officiating.
