In Loving MemoryJosephine Olga (DeVita) Boninfante Born in Philadelphia 12.12.1921 to her loving Parents James and Sarah DeVita. Both parents were immigrants from Italy, who came to United Stated and started a very prominent furniture business. This very successful business was pasted down to their sons who continued on to their parents legacy. Josephine had six siblings. Four brothers and two sisters. Brothers name but not in catalogable order; Joseph, Anthony, James Jr. and Edward. Josephines sisters are, Kathrine and Sarah. Her two sisters are the only survivors in the DeVita family.Josephine passed 6.20.23 at the age of 101. Her two daughters were by her side and cared for her in her remaining days. Geraldine (Geri) Marchiafava and Joyce (Joyce) Ann B. Buscaglia. Geri is married to Tony Marchiafava. Josephine was marred to Rocco F. Boninfante. Rocco who passed 6.11.1964. Their married took place after World War II, 2.15.1946. Redecided in Upper Darby, PA. where they lived in a row home. After the passing of her husband she moved into apartment. She went back to work. She was very diligent in passing the government entrance exam to become a secretary. Her first assignment with the government was at the Philadelphia Navy Yard. When a position became available and closer to home she went to work for the Forrest Service, where she retiredHer family members that have survived her are Josephines three grandchildren; Heather, Andrea, and James Jr. Heather are married to Mark Tadrissi and their three children are Bianca, Ellia, and Sebastian. Andrea is married to Alan Marshall and their three sons, Aidan, Atlee, and Ace. James Hamell Jr. is marriage to Chara and their three daughters, Lily, Lila and Laurel.Josephine was known to be devout Catholic. Always cared about her appearance and her hair had to be done weekly by a professional. Skipping a hairdresser appoint was unheard of. If you cant tell by now, she was OCD on steroids. Josephines hobbies were knitting, sewing and she took pride in her domestic duties. In her older years (when she relocated to Jacksonville, Florida) her body started to fail her, poor vision, hearing loss and athirst took over her fingers. She became an active member in the Mandarin Womens Club (MWC) some of her activities just to name a few were, Mexican Trian, Bunco, Mahjongg, monthly luncheons and many outings and trips. She also was a volunteer at Wolfson Childrens Hospital. Her task during her four-year tender was bringing books to the children and reading to them. Once she became a resident of Wyndham Lakes, she took great joy in being part of the Senior Serenaders. This group practiced weekly and performed for the residents and staff, four to five times a year. Any time music was involved you could see Josephine in a front row seat, always toe tapping and singing along to her favorite music. She enjoyed sitting in the common areas and conversing with her friends, giving them a smile and offering to help in any way she could to make their day a little brighter.Services will be Monday 6.26.23 at St. Josephs Historic Church 4214 Loretto Road at 10AM. In lieu of flowers, any contributions can be made to Community Hospice, St. Jude Childrens Hospital or The American Heart Association.
