Mrs. Josephine "Jo" Leslie Cressler, age 91, of Melrose passed away Saturday, December 6, 2014 at Willey Manor in Keystone Heights following an extended illness. She was born in Wauchula on July 9, 1923 to the late Frank and Annie (Newland) Leslie. Mrs. Cressler had served in the United States Navy during WWII in the Communications Office with the Seventh Naval District Headquarters in Miami, and prior to her retirement she was a clerk for the United States Postal Service. Mrs. Cressler was a member of Faith Presbyterian Church where she was involved in various programs and activities, and taught Sunday school for many years from her teenage years on. She was also a member of the Eastern Star. She was a 4-H leader and was always involved with her children and their school activities. Mrs. Cressler was extremely talented with her needle working such as knitting, crocheting and sewing; she loved working in the yard with her flowers, and enjoyed all types of music including playing her violin and keyboard. Survivors are: her husband of 69 years, Morgan Cressler of Melrose and their three children, Susan Okun of Little River, SC, Bruce Cressler of Helvetia, W VA, and David Cressler of Atlantic Beach, FL. Also left behind are her three grandsons, David Cressler, Jr. Ben Cressler, and Zach Okun, as well as many much loved nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, December 13, 2014 in the Faith Presbyterian Church with Pastor Terry Robertson officiating. Graveside services will be at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 16, 2014 at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell with Military Honors.
