IN LOVING MEMORY OF Josephine Foresta Rewis

May 11, 1949 - April 24, 2026

Josephine (Josie) Rewis went to be with the Lord on April 24, 2026 at the age of 76.

She was born in Naples, Italy. At the age of 10, she came to the United States and grew up in The Bronx and East Meadow Long Island, New York. In her early twenties, Josie relocated to Jacksonville, FL where she began her restaurant journey. While working as a waitress, she met and married her beloved husband, Eston Leonard Rewis and they shared 53 years together.

Josie and her family owned and successfully operated Italian restaurants in Jacksonville for many years. These places were known for their delicious dishes and family atmosphere. Josie and Eston moved to New Tazewell, TN in 2003, where Josie owned and operated another restaurant for a short time. Josie loved the Lord and spent the later years of her life witnessing to anyone who would listen. She shared God's word every Sunday morning on a local TN radio station. She also did weekly visits to the women's prison to share God's love and his forgiveness.

Josie is preceded in death by her loving husband Eston Rewis, parents Amerigo & Carmela Foresta; and brother Ennio Foresta. She is survived by her sons Skip (Tammie) Rewis and Roger (Adele) Rewis; grandchildren Kristyn (Michael) Bachman, Morgan Hall, Brycen (Rebecca) Rewis and Cammie Rewis; great grandchild Dallas; Sister Anna Collela; Brothers Neil Foresta, Ralph (Debbie) Foresta, Sandro Foresta and Roberto Foresta; loved nieces, nephews and other family members.

She will be interred at Jacksonville National Cemetery, Jacksonville, FL on May 1, 2026 at 10:00am after a graveside service.
