Mrs. Josie Mae Rowell DampierMrs. Josie Mae Rowell Dampier age 78, of Starke passed away Monday, January 3, 2011 at Windsor Manor Nursing Home. Mrs. Dampier was born on January 4, 1932 in Lee, Florida to the late Elton G. and Minnie L. Donaldson Rowell and moved to Starke from Gainesville in 1958. Josie was a homemaker and member of Bethel Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband John G. Dampier and son John S. Dampier. Survivors are her sons: Jerry Dampier and Joey Dampier both of Starke; Steve Smith of Gainesville; brother: Norman Rowell of Gainesville; six grandchildren; four great grandchildren. The family will receive friends at the DEWITT C. JONES CHAPEL; 620 E. Nona St. in Starke on Wednesday, January 5, 2011 from 6-9 PM. Funeral services will be on Thursday, January 6, 2011 at 11:00 AM in Hope Baptist Church with Pastor Larry Strickland officiating. Interment will follow in Hope Cemetery.
